Having capped off and celebrated our coming of age year with a rewarding and enjoyable summer expedition to Norway (see magazine edition 59 below), the 44th now faces a time of many changes. Firstly there are changes to the focus, image and direction of Venture Scouting itself; this may be an exciting prospect but there appears to be a raft of measures that will add a layer of onerous paperwork and bureaucracy, which we feel will hamper rather than further enable the life of our unit, especially when it comes to activities. On top of this there are educational changes in the offing, some proposals within Gloucester that may directly concern the continuing existance of Sir Thomas Rich's as we know it. On top of this we have a Scout hut which can hardly bear any further partial repairs or replacements - in reality we need a new home! Still we will continue in true 44th style, with hope and a spirit of adventure.
