Stromness Shopping Week ...
Seemed to involve copious amounts of alcohol being consumed (in and out of pubs), lots of party atmosphere, interspersed with a few parades and celebratory events ... fishing demo & competition ... shopping week queen ... bands waiting to play in the rain outside Stromness' main hotel by the pier ... plastic beer cups (yuk! - but safe!!) ... Tennants sponsored drinking and falling down competitions (junior and senior) ... multiple hen nights ... three-legged beer races (senior and junior) ... more drinking and singing ... more falling down, etc, etc.
